HOW TO BOOK
1) Choose the period and length of your sailing
holiday.
2) Contact us to check on the availability of the yacht
you have chosen or let us help you choose one.
3) We will send you a charter contract you must sign and
mail us back in five copies. Upon signing the contract,
a 50% advance payment of the total hire must be remitted
in order to confirm the booking. This procedure should
not take longer than a week, or ten days max, as the yacht
is UNDER OPTION and cannot accept other bookings.
4) Your booking will be confirmed as soon as we receive
both the signed contracts and the advance payment.
5) The balance payment of 50% is due the latest two weeks
before embarkation.
Yacht charter starts on Saturday afternoon
and ends on Friday evening. Usually, the yacht will not
be available before 05.00 p.m., as it takes quite a few
hours to get it properly ready for your charter. However,
we always do our best to deliver the yacht before the
above-mentioned time. In case you arrive earlier than
boarding time, we recommend to take a short visit of the
town or have a drink in one of the bars along the marina.
Instead your luggage can safely remain on board. You are
kindly requested not to embark during the checking of
the yacht and of its inventory list. Please feel free
to ask for more information about your yacht or itinerary.
On your return, we recommend you are at the destination
harbour from around 05.00 to 07.00 p.m. and spend your
last night on board. Remember that the yacht must ABSOLUTELY
be delivered clean, filled up with water and fuel around
09.00 a.m. next morning.
WHAT TO BRING ALONG
We suggest you don't bring heavy clothes. Light T-shirts,
casual trousers and some warm sweater for cool nights
should be enough. A water-resistant jacket could prove
necessary while sailing in rough weather. Avoid bringing
valuable items such as golden necklaces, watches, earrings
etc. In case you decide to have such things along, remember
to check you have everything before leaving the yacht.
One pair of soft boat-shoes should be recommended. Don't
bring hard suitcases. Storing space on board is limited
and such suitcases are difficult to store. It would be
far better to use soft fabric or sailor bags. They can
be easily folded and stored anywhere. You don't need to
bring bed linen and pillows. You should think of bringing
face and bath towels, though.
GREEK FOOD
The typical Greek menu includes a selection of hot and
cold dishes, known as "mezedes". A few soups can also
be found but they are meals by themselves. The main course
consists of boiled or grilled meat/fish. You can also
choose between many delicious meat stews, as well as plain
grilled meat and, of course, the well-known "souvlaki"
(charcoal-grilled lamb or pork).
Fish and shellfish are good cooked in any way. Salads
usually accompany the main course and consist of fresh
vegetables or cooked dandelions. "Horiatiki", the traditional
Greek salad, consists of tomato and cucumber slices, olives,
peppers, onions and feta cheese and is dressed with oil
and vinegar. The best known Greek cheese is feta (white,
semi-soft and salted), graviera (yellow hard), kasseri
(yellow semi-soft), and manouri (unsalted, creamy and
fattening). Greek coffee, like Turkish coffee, is always
served accompanied by a glass of water.
There is a wide variety of eating places in Greece:
Tavern: here you can have traditional cooking and "mezedes".
Psistaria: here you can have food cooked on barbecue.
Estiatorion: the conventional restaurant. Psarotaverna:
a tavern specialized in fish and usually located by the
seaside or near harbours.
PRICES AND TIPPING
In Greece a 15% service charge is usually included in
your bill. Menus usually display two parallel price charts:
on the left, the price of food and drink; on the right,
the price including service charges and taxes. Service
charge is regulated by Greek law, so additional tipping
is really a recognition of good service.
